The UK's own Cai Marle-Garcia is poised to impress with his debut release, "Mr. Ears".  Primarily a fretless player (sporting a fretless Linc Luthier bass in one pic..  Many don't know about these beautiful instruments but my first fretless was a Linc and they are just wonderful basses), Cai has a playing style very reminiscent of Jaco, but his compositions are all his own and contain a great balance of groove, jazz sensibilities & emotive melodies.  Not to focus on the Jaco thing (which is most fretless players pet-peev) but this album did remind me quite a bit of Jaco's debut solo album (and I mean that in a good way).

Cai will surely make a splash with this CD, and deservedly so.  He's a great player with a great band playing honest music.  There is no pretense here, he's playing from the heart!
